Major Utility Selects Envision Solar for Solar Parking Array Designs
Solar Tracking Trees™ will include Envision Solar’s integrated EV charging stations
SAN DIEGO (February 18, 2011) – Envision Solar International, Inc., (www.envisionsolar.com) (OTC BB:EVSI), a leading sustainable infrastructure designer and developer, has entered into a contract with a major California utility to design and engineer Envision Solar’s Solar Tree® structures for a showcase deployment. The project is centered in a high visibility innovative facility which will be open to the public.
The approximately 80kW Solar Grove® array will include Solar Tree® structures which are planned to incorporate Envision Solar’s CleanCharge™ CI™, “column-integrated” electric vehicle charging stations. The installation will provide shade for 36 cars, and is scheduled for completion in mid-2011. In addition, the designs will allow for the incorporation of Envision Solar’s EnvisionTrak™ multi-axis solar tracking technology for the project, which would increase the efficiency of the entire installation by as much as 22 percent.
Robert Noble, founder and CEO of Envision Solar said, “In addition to clean energy from the sun, the Solar Grove® will provide much-needed shade for cars and people and be an architecturally beautiful enhancement to the neighborhood. The local community will be able to charge their electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids and see renewable energy generation in their own backyard.”
Noble continued, “Utilities understand the benefits of distributed generation solar, especially when installed in parking lots. Envision Solar has been focused for many years on developing a set of integrated products and technologies which provide reliable, clean energy generation at the lowest possible cost of ownership. We are seeing a significantly heightened interest by energy providers and others in our product line, technologies and service capabilities.”
“Being selected by a major California utility to provide our iconic Solar Tree® structures is an important endorsement of the quality, scalability and cost effectiveness of our core products,” said Desmond Wheatley, Envision Solar president. “Our pledge to strive for the lowest total cost of ownership and lowest maintenance costs in the industry while delivering the highest aesthetic, architectural and engineering value was an important part of the decision making process for this customer and many others with whom we are contracted to provide our standardized Solar Tree® structures.”
